Anatomy Graduate Joins Guinness World Record Train, Eyes 48-Hour Pedicure Marathon

A Nigerian pedicurist, Ousanya Samuel, popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual.
The anatomy graduate from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is scheduled to undertake the grueling 48-hour marathon from October 29 to 31, 2026, at Njay Beauty Spa & Salon, located at Akure, Ondo State.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the event is primarily aimed at showcasing the immense potential of Nigeria’s beauty and wellness industry, while also raising vital awareness about proper foot care and hygiene.
Samuel, who is the proud founder of Sam Pedicures, explained that his academic background in science greatly influenced his career path.
As he puts it, “My background in anatomy gave me a deeper understanding of human physiology and foot care structure.”
Tracing his journey into the beauty business, Samuel noted that his entrepreneurial drive began back in his second year at university, when he started learning basic manicure and pedicure techniques.
Over more than five years of constant practice, that little hustle grew from a mere side enterprise into Sam Pedicures, a full-fledged brand heavily focused on foot hygiene and professional foot care.
Speaking further on the motivation behind the bold attempt, Samuel emphasized the need for self-reliance among Nigerian youths.
He stated, “Building a business alongside my studies showed me that young Nigerians do not have to wait for employment; we can create it through skill mastery.”
Apart from breaking records, organizers revealed that the record attempt is also intended to encourage young Nigerians to develop practical skills and explore entrepreneurship alongside their formal education.
To make the event lively for supporters, organizers added that the landmark attempt will feature live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, plenty of food and drinks, as well as free pedicure sessions for attendees.
Giving a glimpse into his roots, Samuel completed his primary and secondary education in Ondo State before proceeding to study Anatomy at FUOYE.
He is the beloved son of Olusanya Adeleke from Epe, Lagos State, and Adubi Mercy from Akunu Akoko, Ondo State.
Ultimately, the proposed marathon comes as Samuel seeks to use his professional skills and the global attention associated with a Guinness World Record attempt to proudly promote Nigeria’s personal care industry.
