Ugandan gospel singer and former wife to Pastor Steven Mutesasira set the internet on fire when pictures of her kissing another woman while showing their wedding certificate surfaced on social media.
Ugandans can’t seem to take the news as it came as a big shock to them – how could they ever imagine a pastor’s wife and who one preaches the gospel through her songs leave her matrimonial home only to get married to a fellow woman.
It was gathered that Julie Mutesasira and Pastor Mutesasira were married for many years and they have three children together including Esther and Ezekiel who emerged the 2019 winners of the first season of East Africa’s Got Talent.
Their marriage ended in a bitter divorce. It was reported that the two were at loggerheads for months before they finally got separated. After they officially got divorced in 2016. Julie relocated to Canada, leaving her three children behind with their father in Uganda.
Pastor Mutesasira, a senior preacher at Appointed Upper Room Church Kamwokya, recently tied a knot with his new wife Joice in a glamorous wedding at Faith Power Centre, Entebbe.
He shared photos from his wedding along with an emotional letter to his new wife saying that they have now turned into one entity for the lifetime.
“An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, but she, who shames him, is as rottenness in his bones (Proverbs 12:4). Marriage is a life-long covenant between a man and a woman to live as one flesh, for their mutual benefits, and for the bearing of children,” Pastor Steven shared.
“The relation of husband-wife is the most beautiful relational of the world. It’s the relation by which two different people turn into one entity for the lifetime,” he added.
A few days after his post, photos of his ex-wife, Julie Mutesasira’s wedding picture to a fellow woman hit on the internet.
It was reported that the pictures were actually released by Pastor Franklin Mondo Mugisha.
Speaking during an interview, the Empowerment Christian Prayer Center International lead Pastor Mondo Mugisha disclosed that Julie’s wedding with a fellow woman happened a year ago and he has a full album of their wedding photos.
Mondo explained that he decided to release the photo because many people were castigating the man of God (Pastor Mutesasira) for marrying another woman over the weekend which he felt was not good and fair.
“It really hurts me because I don’t want to be the reason for the church to split. I had to release the photo to challenge those who have been judging Pastor Steven Mutesasira’s decision to marry another woman,” Pastor Mondo said.
“Therefore, I felt that it was in the best interest of everyone to know,” he added.
Pastor Mondo who claimed to have known Julie and her ex-husband said her decision to start dating fellow women ruined her marriage with Pastor Mutesasira. Mondo said he was the one who preached the gospel to Julie which made her give her life to Christ then.
“I got these photos in 2017 and decided not to share them to keep them for the respect of the two (Julie and Stephen). When you look at these photos it is clear she is no longer Sister Julie, but brother Julie. I now want the public to know that Pastor Mutesasira is free to marry,” he said.
