INSECURITY: Zamfara State government Shuts down 10 schools

Zamfara State government has closed down ten schools. It is part of proactive measures taken to prevent any incident of kidnapping.

The action taken by the state government, followed the abduction of over three hundred students of the Science Secondary School, Kankara in Katsina State.

Following the abduction of the over three hundred students of the science boarding school at Kankara in Katsina State, the Zamfara State government has closed down ten schools.

The schools include seven boarding and three days schools, which border Katsina State.

The Commissioner for Education, Ibrahim Abdullahi said, the rationale is to protect the students from being abducted by criminal elements.

He said even though, the abduction of the over three hundred students was carried out in Katsina State, there was the need for the Zamfara State government to put adequate measures in place, to forestall such incident in the state.

Ibrahim Abdullahi noted that, Zamfara State is relatively secured, but it would not want to take chancshut down the bold decision by the state government to shut down the affected schools, which were expected to close next week for the Christmas season.
