As the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic bite hard in Nigeria,Cross River State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all night clubs in Calabar and it’s environment until further notice.
The Closure according to the state government also includes major event centres where people gather together without observing the covid-19 protocols.
Chairman of Covid-19 Taskforce Response Team and Commissioner for Health,Betta Edu, said the closure was to prevent the spread of second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Edu said the Mobile enforcement team on the Compulsory use of Face Mask will soon resume back on the street of Calabar and other major Urban centres in Cross River, saying Cross River must be prevented against the deadly Disease.
The State Covid-19 Chairman also said the annual Carnival Calabar and other crowd realated festivities have been cancelled as part of the measure to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Government encouraged private and public organisations to work from home and admonished residents and visitors to the state to always use their face masks in public places at all times or face sanctions from the Enforcement unit of taskforce team.
