THE CONTINUED INCREASE IN SECURITY CHALLENGES FACING VARIOUS COMMUNITIES HAS BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO THE CHANGE IN THE OLD NARRATIVE WHEREBY TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION WAS NO LONGER GIVEN POWERS TO PLAY ACTIVE ROLE IN POLICING THEIR DOMAIN.

HON NDUDI ELUMELU MINORITY LEADER HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES WHO SAID HE IS 100% IN SUPPORT OF ASSIGNING THE TRADITIONAL RULERS KEY ROLES IN SECURING THEIR COMMUNITIES MADE THIS OBSERVATION KNOWN WHILE PRESENTING TO THE DELTA STATE GOVERNOR SENATOR IFEANYI OKOWA AN ULTRA MODERN PALACE BUILT BY THE ELUMELU FAMILY FOR OFFICIAL HANDOVER TO THE ONICHA-UKWU PEOPLE.

THE ONICHA-UKWU PEOPLE ARE SAID TO HAVE A TRADITION WHEREBY ITS KINGSHIP IS ROTATIONAL A DEVELOPMENT THAT SAW TO THE PROLIFERATION OF PALACES VIRTUALLY IN EVERY FAMILY.

BUT WITH THE UNVEILING OF THIS PALACE AND ITS OFFICIAL HANDOVER TO GOVERNOR OKOWA WHO WAS REPRESENTED BY HIS SPECIAL ADVISER ON LOCAL GOVT AFFAIRS PRINCE KELLY PENAWOU HON ELUMELU SAID ITS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR THE ELUMELU FAMILY.

HON ELUMELU WHO HAPPENED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE CONSTITUTION AMMENDMENT COMMITTEE OF THE HOUSE AND BENJAMIN ELUE FORMER DELTA STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR SAID NIGERIA CAN MAKE A HEADWAY IN TACKLING INSECURITY WHEN IT STRENGTHENS THE ROLE OF ITS TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION.

SPEAKING ON BEHALF OF THE GOV. PRINCE KELLY APPRECIATED THE ELUMELUS FOR SHARING THE SAME VISION WITH THE OKOWA LED GOVERNMENT
