The president of Academic Staff of polytechnics, ASUP, Anderson Ezeibe has asked the federal government to urgently sack the rector of federal polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, for embarrassingly having a king size bed as part of the furniture in his office.
ASUP said this is in addition to his escapades in the past where he was suspended by the Polytechnic for two months allegedly on account of sexual harassment
In a statement, ASUP president said the call for Dr J T Adekolawole’s removal from office follows a ‘no confidence vote’ passed on him by the Academic Board of the Institution.
Ezeibe said in a letter dated December 16, 2020 addressed to the minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, the union argued that the Rector lacked moral ground to remain in office after a no confidence vote was passed, in a meeting he was physically present.
ASUP president vowed that the union may be left with no option than to mobilise her members to withdraw services if Dr Adekolawole remains in office.
ASUP is also noting that the Rector had continued in defiance of the resolutions of the meeting which found him culpable of the allegations of mounting an illegal programme thereby defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.
The union however said as part of her demands , requests for the appointment of an Acting Rector to administer the Institution till further notice, setting up of an all-inclusive special visitation panel to look into the allegations against Dr. J.T. Adekolawole.
