Fifteen suspects including a former staff of the Bayelsa State Government House have been paraded by the police for vandalizing electricity power equipment at various locations in Yenagoa, the State Capital.
Commissioner of Police, Michael Okolie while parading the suspects at the Command headquarters, explained the arrests were made possible by deliberate and strategic planning in the bid to ensure the State remains peaceful and safe during the Yuletide season
Some the electricity power equipment recovered from the vandals after their arrests included armoured cables, transformers, high tension wires and solar panels.
Bayelsa State’s Commissioner of Police, Michael Okolie while parading the suspects at the Command headquarters in Yenagoa, highlighted the case of a former staff of the Bayelsa Government House who was nabbed in the process of stealing 12 heavy duty batteries from the State House.
According to Okolie, areas where the criminal activities took place in state capital, were Azikoro, Agbura and Ayama in Southern Ijaw council area, where residents have been thrown into darkness.
He said the command would diligently prosecuted the arrested vandals to serve as deterrent to others.
It would be recalled that only a week ago the Police command paraded 45 suspects over involvement in criminal acts ranging from kidnap, arson, rape and armed robbery.
