The Taraba State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of Police Brutality has resumed sitting in Jalingo.

One of the victims is demanding a 100million Naira compensation from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Twenty-five year old Sulaiman Ibrahim, lived a normal life of a young man with hopes of a brighter future, until March 2019.

His plans and hopes took an uncertain twist after an alleged encounter with operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, close to his family residence in Jalingo.

He was shot at close range, by one of the operatives. He received an injury that led to complications that left his right leg amputated.

Over one year after that incident, Ibrahim lives every day with the physical and emotional scars of what happened.

He tells his story to the Taraba State Judicial Panel of Enquiry And Restitution for Victims of Police Brutality.

He is also pleading for compensation of a 100million Naira. He says that the injury he sustained has ended his means of livelihood as a roofing carpenter.

The Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution set up across the country, in response to the demands of the EndSARs Protesters has, for now, remained the only hope for the long-awaited justice for many victims of the brutality by security operatives.
