First Northern Nigerian Catholic Bishop Peter Jatau laid to rest

The body of the first Northern Nigerian Catholic Arch Bishop of Kaduna Diocese, Peter Jatau has been laid to rest at the Saint Joseph Cathedral in Kaduna.

President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Arch Bishop Augustine Akubeze, who spoke during the Requiem Mass of the late bishop, urged Nigerians to emulate his exemplary life.

Cardinals, Arch Bishops, Bishops, other Christians and dignitaries from all walks of life, converged on the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, to pay their last respect to the late Northern Nigerian Catholic Arch Bishop, Peter Jatau.

The President, Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Arch Bishop Augustine Akubeze said that the deceased, during his lifetime, contributed in no small measure, to the promotion of peace in the country.

The Chairman, Northern Governors’ Forum, Simon Lalong, among other sympathizers, described the late bishop as a father, who always showed love to all, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.

The late Catholic Arch Bishop was ordained as a priest in 1963 and became a bishop in 1981.
