Police Brutality: Family Seeks Justice 27years After Police Murder their Son

After 27 Years of unlawful murder of one of its Sons, Elijah Adeyemi by a Police Officer, the Olujide Family of Ikinyinwa, Osun State is seeking Justice.

This and more cases were brought before the Osun state Judicial Panel of Inquiry On Police.

Brutality, Human Rights Violations and Related Extra Judicial Killings , after three weeks yuletide break in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

This was the panel’s first sitting in the new year after 3 week break. According to its tradition, 5 cases were heard for the day.

Joseph & Adedayo Olujide are submitting to the discretion of the panel over an alleged extra judicial murder of their brother, Elijah Adeyemi, by a police officer in October, 1993.

Another petition was filed by Azeez Oderinde over an alleged withholding of his chequebook by the police after a court order was granted for a 30 million naira indemnity to be paid by the Osun state government after his 2 houses were demolished in Ilobu.

Wasiu Jimoh also is seeking an amendment of petition over an alleged illegal seizure of his commercial vehicle and his subsequent detainment by the police after a court order was given for its release.

The Osun judicial panel of inquiry is therefore submitting that the activities of the Nigeria Police force must be checkmated in order to further prevent break down of law and order

Other Cases were thereafter adjourned till 14th of January.
