Improve on Personal Welfare: House of Reps Tells Nigerian Army

Nigeria’s House of Representatives has asked the Army to improve on the welfare of its personal especially those in battle fields and other combat operations to further make the soldiers more committed to their job and to the nation.

The decision was reached at Tuesday’s plenary during consideration of the report of the house committee on army on the purported voluntary resignation of over three hundred and sixty-five soldiers.

The fight against insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the country is taking its toll on the ability of personnel of the army to carry on, resulting to the alleged voluntary resignation of over three hundred and sixty-five soldiers in 2020.

The House of representatives wielded into the purported resignations and has asked the Army to effectively monitor and follow up in the delivery of welfare packages in all army formations.

The lawmakers also asked the Army to continuously embark on orientation of soldiers about the reality of their jobs and the need to be committed to their country.

The House in another motion calls for the reconstruction of the collapsed bridge in tungan – madaki Community of Abuja municipal area council.

In another business of the day, the house mandated its committee on Appropriation, finance and public accounts to initiate a workable plan to enhance efficient payment of monthly utility bills of all ministries, departments and agencies of government.

The Committees have eight weeks to report its findings for further action.
