TikTok has removed more than 3.6 million videos from its Nigerian platform between January and March 2025, citing violations of its Community Guidelines. This figure marks a 50% increase compared to the previous quarter, according to the platform’s Q1 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report released on Tuesday.
Key highlights:
- 98.4% of the videos were detected proactively, before users reported them.

- The platform emphasised that these removals represent a small fraction of total Nigerian content, the majority of which remains positive and constructive.
In addition:
- 42,196 LIVE rooms were banned, and 48,156 streams were interrupted in Nigeria for violations.
- 129 accounts across West Africa linked to covert operations were removed in March 2025.
Globally, TikTok removed over 211 million videos, 184 million of which were flagged by automated systems, achieving a 99% proactive detection rate.
