The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the current Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, as the new National Chairman of the party. Yilwatda takes over from Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned from the position on June 27.

His nomination was put forward by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who also chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), and was seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas.

The decision was made during the ongoing NEC meeting currently holding at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

More updates are expected as the meeting progresses.
