Former Senator representing Kogi West Sen. Dino Melaye has officially withdrawn his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dino shared his resignation letter through his official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Thursday.
The resignation, dated 4th July 2025 was addressed to the PDP chairman of Aiyetoro Gbede Ward 1, Ijumu Local government area of Kogi State. In the letter, Dino stated that he can no longer in good conscience be a party member as the PDP has failed to provide credible leadership and good governance to Nigerians.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels of involvement.
“This decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation”, the letter read.
“Having carefully reflected on the state of the party, I can no longer in good conscience participate in the activities of the parties or lend my support to her agenda”, the letter continued.
Dino further wrote that the letter is his formal withdrawal from all party activities and involvements. “In view of the above, please consider this as my formal withdrawal from the party and all its activities at all levels with immediate effect”, the letter added.
Dino Melaye, who was the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Kogi State closed his letter by thanking the party for the opportunity to serve during his membership.
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve under the platform during my period of membership,” the letter concluded.
