The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended the recent tenure extension of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, describing it as a clear endorsement of transformational leadership.
In a congratulatory letter issued on Thursday in Abuja, NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, applauded the CGC’s remarkable strides since assuming office, noting that the Customs Service has, under his leadership, experienced innovative reforms that have positioned it as a key player within the global customs ecosystem.
Dr. Neliaku, while acknowledging Mr. Adeniyi’s legacy as a former Vice President of the Institute and current Vice Chairman of the Body of Advisers, Nigeria Reputation Management Group (NRMG), stated:
“The Comptroller-General, upon assumption of office, has effectively demonstrated that a clear vision backed by the right attitude will yield positive results. What we witness today in the Nigeria Customs is a transformational shift driven by passion for service and a commitment to national development.”
He highlighted notable achievements under Mr. Adeniyi’s leadership, including: Enhanced passenger–Customs interactions at Nigerian airports, Deployment of indigenous technology systems to improve operational efficiency and Effective stakeholder engagement and transparency initiatives.
Dr. Neliaku emphasized that these accomplishments reflect the strategic application of public relations principles, reinforcing professionalism and service excellence in public institutions.
Looking ahead, the NIPR President expressed confidence that the extended tenure will provide Mr. Adeniyi the opportunity to consolidate on his achievements both nationally and internationally, in his dual role as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO).
“His renewed mandate is not only a win for the Nigeria Customs Service but also a step forward for global customs modernization and cooperation,” Dr. Neliaku affirmed.
