Nigerians in Ghana: Bianca Ojukwu Urges Calm, Talks with Ghanaian Govt

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has made attempts to broker peace amidst the “Nigerians must go” call by Ghanaians.

She made the call for calm and affirms that there is no cause for alarm as she is in talks with the Ghanaian government to resolve the issue.

The minister made this appeal on Wednesday in a joint press briefing in Ghana when she visited as part of an effort to resolve the issue.

According to the Minister, since arriving Ghana, there has been no signs of violence, burning of tyres or protests demanding that Nigerians should vacate Ghana, which shows that the Ghanaian government is making efforts towards a peaceful resolution.

“I would say there’s no cause for alarm, they are handling the situation effectively, and we will continue engaging stakeholders. We have met with some of the leaders and individuals involved in a bid to de-escalate tensions,” she said.

Over the weekend, a video made rounds on social media with Ghanaians demanding that Nigerians should vacate their country as they were allegedly involved in Criminal activities and lifestyle against their beliefs.
