President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
This development was made known on Thursday, in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Adewale Adeniyi’s tenure was supposed to expire on 31st August, 2025. But, the tenure was extended by one year.
According to the statement, Adeniyi’s tenure was extended to “consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration”.
The reforms include the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project, and execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
“President Tinubu recognises Mr. Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service” the statement added.
“The President is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.”
