The National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives have called off their intended 7 days warning strike.
This was announced by the Minister of health, Prof. Ali Pate, while speaking with journalists after a closed door meeting with members of the association on Friday.
The minister said the decision was reached following an agreement between the government and the leadership of the association.
However, union leaders declined to speak to the press about the development after the meeting.
Recall that the nurses had started a strike action on Tuesday 29th July, which was to last till August 5th, after their demands were unmet by the government.
Their demands included improved welfare, fair allowances, and better working conditions in federal health institutions.
