The Ondo State Police Command has arraigned three men — 23-year-old cross-dresser and content creator, Taiwo Austine; 25-year-old Haris Abubakar; and 32-year-old Matthew Ogwu — before the Akure Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly engaging in a threesome homosexual act.
The suspects were charged on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and homosexuality, offences said to contravene Sections 516, 214 and 215 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Abayomi Jejeniwa, the men, along with others still at large, were arrested in Akure in April 2025 after investigations revealed alleged involvement in acts described as “unnatural for human beings.”
Court documents state that the incidents allegedly occurred between April 15 and April 17, 2025. While Austine and Abubakar were accused of engaging in homosexual acts, Ogwu was said to have attempted the act.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. Inspector Jejeniwa urged the court to set a trial date, stating that he would call two prosecution witnesses to prove the case.
However, Defence Counsel A.W. Lawoye applied for bail on liberal terms, arguing that the allegations were yet to be proven.Presiding Magistrate B.A. Alphonso adjourned the case to August 11, 2025, for bail consideration and ordered that the defendants be remanded in police custody pending the hearing.
