The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday in commemoration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which marks the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Tuesday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and around the world on the occasion, urging them to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
He further appealed to Nigerians of all faiths to “use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and stability in the country, while supporting the government’s drive for unity and development.”
“The Minister of Interior wishes Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration,” the statement added.
