The Management of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has distanced itself from the truck involved in the recent tragic accident at Four Corner, Enugu State, which reportedly claimed several lives.
In a statement on Thursday, the company clarified that investigations revealed the vehicle was not part of its fleet but rather belonged to Visco Investment Global Limited, a third-party operator.
Dangote explained that it was engaging with relevant agencies to determine why the truck was branded with its logo despite having no affiliation with the Group.
The company said: “Moving forward, increased scrutiny will be applied to the unauthorised use of our brand identity, particularly the misuse of our logo on vehicles not affiliated with the Group.”
The management further cautioned against misinformation and the hasty attribution of road accidents to Dangote trucks without proper verification.
“While it is our policy not to comment publicly on individual cases, we are compelled to address the increasing spread of misinformation by attributing such incidents to the Dangote Group without any substantiated evidence. We urge the public and media to refrain from circulating unverified claims,” the statement read.
Dangote also assured that it remains committed to cooperating fully with authorities investigating the matter, while stressing that tragic events should not be exploited for “malicious or financial gain.”
The company reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate responsibility, safety, and integrity across its operations.
