Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91, his company confirmed on Thursday.

In a statement, the Armani Group announced: “With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani.” The statement added that Armani “passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones,” noting that he remained deeply committed to his work until his final days.

“Tireless, he worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, its collections, and the diverse and ever-evolving projects both existing and in progress,” the company said.

Armani, who launched his eponymous label in 1975, revolutionized the global fashion industry with his minimalist, sleek, and understated designs that became a signature of elegance. His influence expanded far beyond clothing, shaping the worlds of luxury accessories, fragrances, interior design, and lifestyle.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential designers of the 20th and 21st centuries, Giorgio Armani leaves behind a fashion empire that continues to inspire innovation, sophistication, and timeless style.
