The lifeless body of a 100-level Mass Communication student of Taraba State University, Jalingo, has been discovered in the Bakasi area of the state capital.
The deceased, identified as Comfort Jimtop Oliver, hailed from Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Preliminary findings revealed that her body was found inside a residence reportedly belonging to her boyfriend. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, but police authorities have confirmed that a full investigation is underway.
Spokesperson of the Taraba State Police Command, James Lashen, said the details are still sketchy. He explained that efforts are ongoing to unravel the cause of death and establish the events leading up to the tragedy, promising to provide updates once he receives a briefing from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.
The incident has thrown the university community into mourning, with students and staff expressing shock over the sudden loss of a promising young life.
Though the institution’s spokesperson could not be reached at the time of filing this report, some staff members confirmed the development, adding that the school is working closely with security operatives to ensure the circumstances of Oliver’s death are fully uncovered.
