The Delta State Government has announced plans for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to lead a state delegation to Germany as part of efforts to deepen partnerships with construction giant Julius Berger and fast-track key infrastructure projects across the state.

Commissioner for Works and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this during a press briefing in Asaba, noting that the visit aligns with the administration’s commitment to transparency and international collaboration.

“The Agbor flyover is progressing swiftly. We are not just building; we are reducing the time frame of our projects to deliver faster and more efficiently,” Aniagwu said, referencing the ₦59 billion Agbor flyover, one of the state’s flagship projects.

The commissioner explained that the visit would allow the state to exchange ideas with Julius Berger’s technical team and ensure that all ongoing and upcoming projects meet global engineering and safety standards.

Aniagwu also confirmed that the State Executive Council has approved the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), emphasizing that a significant portion of the 2026 budget would be dedicated to capital development.

“Empowerment resources must cut across gender and ethnic lines. Every Deltan counts in this administration’s agenda,” he said, highlighting the role of the Ministry of Human Affairs and Girl Child Development in driving inclusivity.

On political developments, Aniagwu referenced a recent stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House, where discussions centered on consolidating internal unity following Delta State’s formal alignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) on April 28.

He said the meeting reaffirmed the collective endorsement of both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, underscoring the administration’s focus on service delivery over political grandstanding.

“If the governor were to wait until the thick of election season to launch these projects, it could be misinterpreted. That’s why we are moving now, with sincerity and clarity,” Aniagwu added.

The planned trip to Germany is expected to strengthen Delta’s infrastructural agenda, bolster investor confidence, and position the state as a model for efficient public works execution in Nigeria.
