Award-winning Nigerian singer and record producer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has explained why he chose Akwa Ibom State as the first stop for his music concert in Nigeria, describing the state as home to “world-class facilities” and “a beautiful environment.”

Speaking on Sunday at a pre-concert reception in Uyo hosted by Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the Afrobeats superstar said Akwa Ibom emerged as the top choice when his team was scouting locations across Africa for the show.

“When we were looking around Africa, five places came up, and Akwa Ibom was at the top of the list,” Davido said.
“A lot of people are flying in from other states that don’t have this type of facility. Everything about Akwa Ibom is beautiful. If all states were like this, I would have toured the whole of Nigeria already.”

Davido, who described the Akwa Ibom concert as his first live show in Nigeria in 14 years, praised Governor Eno for maintaining peace, promoting youth development, and creating an enabling environment for the entertainment industry to thrive.

“You have a standard facility, and that’s why we are starting here,” he said. “We are ready to shut it down.”

In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio lauded Davido for inspiring young Nigerians and using his platform to mentor budding talents.

He also commended Governor Eno for his people-focused leadership and for making Akwa Ibom a hub for youth and sports development.

“Davido has mentored so many young people through his music and his platform. I urge him to carry some Akwa Ibom talents along as he tours the world,” Akpabio said.

Governor Eno, on his part, thanked Davido for choosing Akwa Ibom, describing him as a role model whose consistency and drive continue to motivate millions of young Nigerians.

“You have taken your career to the zenith, and your story inspires our youths to believe that success is achievable,” the governor said. “We are a youth-friendly state, and we appreciate you for sharing the stage with our local entertainers.”

The concert, which holds at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo, marks the start of Davido’s Nigerian tour following the success of his Timeless World Tour in the United States.
