Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has defended his polygamous lifestyle, insisting that men should be married to more than one wife “to create a balance.”
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, anchored by Seun Okinbaloye, the lawmaker argued that monogamy is unnatural, saying he feels “sorry for men married to only one wife.”
“No human can stand on one leg,” Nwoko declared. “I believe every man should have more than one wife. It brings balance and stability.”
The senator, who is married to five women, including Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, also dismissed allegations of domestic violence within his household.
“I never beat my wives. I love them all and my children. I am not a violent person,” he said.
Beyond his personal life, Nwoko reiterated his advocacy for the creation of Anioma State, which he said should be recognized as the sixth state of Nigeria’s Southeast geopolitical zone.
“Every citizen in Anioma is Igbo and has an Igbo name. My Igbo name is Chinedu, and I speak Igbo fluently,” the senator emphasized.
He argued that establishing Anioma State would not only balance regional representation but also fulfil longstanding demands for equity within the federation.
Nwoko’s comments come amid renewed media attention surrounding his marriage to Regina Daniels, following reports of alleged marital tension that led to her temporary move out of their Maitama, Abuja residence.
While both parties have remained largely private about the matter, the senator’s remarks appear aimed at dispelling public speculation and reinforcing his image as a family man comfortable with his polygamous household.
Nwoko, Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District and a lawyer by profession, has long courted public attention for his outspoken views on family, politics, and regional identity.
