Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appealed to the Muslim community across the state to sustain their prayers and support for President Bola Tinubu and his reform agenda, especially as the 2027 general elections draw closer.

The governor made the call on Thursday in Benin during a special Walimah held as part of activities marking his first year in office, tagged ‘365 Days in Office Celebration Walimah of His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo’.

Addressing the large gathering, Mr Okpebholo expressed deep appreciation to Muslim leaders and faithful for their prayers, loyalty, and partnership with his administration. He described their consistent support as a major pillar behind his progress in office.

“It has been a long and challenging journey, but by the mercy of Allah, who presides over the affairs of men, we have come this far,” he said. “From the beginning, we made it clear that Edo belongs to all of us, irrespective of religion or background. Our appointments and decisions are guided strictly by competence and capacity.”

Reaffirming his commitment to the unity and prosperity of Edo State, the governor stressed that governance must be driven by service and a shared purpose rather than personal ambition.

“The interest of Edo is greater than any personal or sectional interest. That is why I continue to call on all to pray for our president. Nigeria is one. President Tinubu is a man of courage, character, and truth, committed to repositioning our nation through bold reforms. He deserves our collective prayers and support,” he said.

Mr Okpebholo also pledged his commitment to ensuring a strong victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“I have promised the president that we will deliver 2.5 million votes to him in 2027,” he declared.

The governor further reassured the Muslim community of his continuous engagement and support, promising to remain open to their counsel and to strengthen collaboration with religious and traditional leaders across the state.

“One love binds us together as a people,” he added.
