Terrorists have launched a fresh attack on Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting 11 residents in a violent overnight raid.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed men—numbering more than 20—stormed the community on Monday, moving with a large herd of cattle and shooting sporadically. An elderly woman was reportedly hit by a stray bullet during the assault.
A community leader, who asked not to be named, confirmed that 11 people were taken away, seven of them from the same family. The victims include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several children.
The abducted residents have been identified as:
- Talatu Kabiru (20)
- Magaji (6)
- Kande (5)
- Hadiza (10)
- Mariam (6)
- Saima (5)
- Habibat (housewife)
- Fatima Yusufu (pregnant)
- Sarah Sunday (22)
- Lami Fidelis (23, nursing mother)
- Haja Na Allah (nursing mother)
Eyewitnesses said the attackers moved through multiple parts of the community, firing at random and leaving homes riddled with bullet holes. Spent AK-47 shells were later recovered from the scene. Security agencies have yet to issue an official response.
This latest attack comes just two weeks after gunmen invaded Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, also within the same LGA, killing at least three worshippers and abducting 38 others, including the pastor. The victims were later released, but residents say fear still grips the area.
Community members are calling for immediate government intervention as insecurity in Kwara’s border communities continues to escalate.
