Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s minister of state for defence, is preparing to host a single wedding ceremony for nine of his children in what is expected to be a high-profile event in the nation’s capital.
The ceremony has been fixed for February 6, 2026, and will take place at the Abuja Central Mosque. Matawalle, who previously served as governor of Zamfara State, is married to four wives—Aisha, Balkisu, Fatima and Dadiya.
Information about the multiple weddings became public following the circulation of a general invitation issued by Dan Jafaru Aleengoo Turakee, which announced the date and venue of the event. Separate wedding cards later emerged, revealing the identities of some of the couples.
Among those set to tie the knot is Hon. Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, who will marry Nana Bello Matawalle. Ibrahim Sahabi Liman is billed to wed Farida Bello Matawalle, while Yazid Shehu Dan Fulani will marry Safiya Bello Matawalle.
Another of Matawalle’s daughters, Aisha Bello Matawalle, is also scheduled to marry Umar Ibrahim Danmaliki on the same day.
The joint wedding is expected to draw prominent political figures, traditional rulers, and guests from different parts of the country, making it one of the most talked-about social events of the year.
