The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has asked former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to provide evidence to the Department of State Services (DSS) over his allegation that the office imported thallium sulphate.

The development followed a letter by El-Rufai seeking clarification on the alleged procurement of the poisonous chemical.

According to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the allegation has been formally referred to the DSS for a comprehensive investigation.

In a statement signed by Brigadier-General OM Adesuyi on behalf of ONSA, the office stated that it had neither procured nor initiated any process for the purchase of the substance and had no intention of doing so.

“ONSA has neither procured nor initiated any process for the purchase of such material, and has no intention of doing so,” the statement read.

The office added that El-Rufai and other parties with relevant information would be invited by the DSS to provide any evidence to assist in establishing the facts.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, also denied the allegation and described it as an attempt to create fear and disaffection, challenging El-Rufai to release the NSA’s reply to his letter.
