There was panic at the Federal Secretariat Complex on Monday morning after a section of the building housing the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation was engulfed by fire.
Eyewitnesses said the blaze was first noticed around 8:20 a.m., with thick smoke seen billowing from one part of the structure.
The fire reportedly broke out in Section C of the Head of Service building within the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja. Staff members working in the building were seen hurriedly moving away from the affected area as emergency responders were alerted to contain the situation.
According to AIT, the Media Department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service confirmed the incident, stating that the fire was confined to Section C of the building and that emergency officials were already working to put it out.
Authorities said the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Investigations are expected to begin once the situation is fully brought under control.
Officials added that more details will be made available as the situation develops.
