The Federal Government has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to uphold the values of love, generosity, tolerance, peace and selflessness observed during the holy month.

The message was conveyed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.

According to the statement, the minister encouraged Nigerians to use the occasion to offer prayers for the peace, unity and continued development of the country.

While wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Tunji-Ojo also advised citizens to celebrate in moderation and extend acts of compassion and kindness to the less privileged.
