After Trump’s Threat, Iran Warns Any New War with US Could Last Longer Than Previous Conflict

US President Donald Trump has renewed his threat of further military action against Iran, warning that Washington could launch additional strikes if tensions between both countries persist.

Trump made the remarks on Sunday during a campaign rally in Iowa ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, suggesting that he had so far refrained from further attacks to avoid additional casualties.

The 80-year-old president said he wanted to spare lives but warned that the United States might eventually have to take stronger action against Tehran.

“And the only reason why I’m not finished with Iran is I want to be nice. I want to try and save all those lives if I can… But at some point we’re going to have to give them the hammer,” he told supporters.

His comments followed reports that Trump had indicated there were still additional targets he needed to “take care” of, raising concerns about the possibility of another military confrontation.

Iran, however, has warned that any renewed hostilities with the United States could be more prolonged than the previous round of fighting.

Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said Tehran would not allow Washington to dictate the duration or terms of a potential conflict.

“A potential future war could last longer than previous conflict, and the American president would not be in a position to dictate the timing or the conditions of its conclusion,” Akraminia said, according to Iranian state television.

The exchange of threats signals continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with both sides issuing warnings over the possibility of renewed military confrontation.
