Lawmakers Demand Safe Return of Abducted Kankara Boys

Nigeria’s House of representatives has asked the federal government to ensure the safe return of over one hundred students abducted from a government secondary school in kankara, Katsina state and all kidnapped school children in the country.

The lawmakers call for the review of the nation’s security architecture because of the inability of the present structure to solve the problem.

In April 2014, 276 female secondary school girls were abducted in chibok Borno state , dozens of students were murdered at federal government college, buni yadi in February 2014 in yobe state, 2018 witnessed the kidnap of about 110 school girls between the age of 11 to 12 in government girls science school dapchi yobe state.

The lawmakes say that these incisant attacks and kidnapping is taking a dangerous dimension that the security agencies seems to be overwhelmed, therefore there is need to rejig the security architecture of the nation.

The House call on the federal government to expedite action on the safe school return all abducted school children from the incident of chibok to the most recent one.

Meanwhile a Bill seeking to strengthen the police service commission to be more functional in its operations has passed second reading.

In another development the house has asked the minister of state for labour to stop all processes leading to the commencement of the special public work programme for the employment of 1000 persons each from all the 774 local government areas until due process is complied with.

The House committee on labour and productivity and legislative compliance to ensure compliance of the resolution.
