The Federal Capital Territory administration says about four hundred and seventy six health workers including doctors, nurses, pharmacists and Laboratory staff have been infected in the line of duty in the federal capital territory since the first recorded COVID-19 case in March.

In a statement by the chief press secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, the administration noted that drivers and other auxiliary personnel have also been infected by the virus. The administration added that four medical doctors have died of COVID-19 including a female doctor from Gwarimpa hospital.

The administration however added that the deaths have not affected the quality of services rendered at its hospitals contrary to media reports suggesting that some hospitals in the FCT are rendering skeletal services due to the death of some health workers

The administration explained that its medical personnel will continue to take precaution in the treatment of COVID-19 patients as a lot of emphasis is being placed on the treatment of a possible surge in the number of patients that may need intensive care

The administration insists all of its hospitals are operating in full capacity including emergency medical care for adults, children delivery and maternity services.
