As part of measures to boost security in parts of the Benue north east senatorial district following the recent killings in the region the Benue State security council has banned the use of motorcycles within Katsina Ala and Ukum local councils of the State.
The decision of the security council was contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary Bureau for internal affairs and special services Uyina Matthew.
The use of tricycle also known as keke and other means of transportation apart from motorcycles will therefore been allowed in the affected local governments.
Also apart from the revenue collection point at the head bridge in Kastina Ala the security council has declared all others as illegal.
It has therefore mandated security agents to dismantle all illegal revenue collection points and directed all staff of the Board Of Internal Revenue Service BIRS to wear customized jackets and identify cards.
Kastina-Ala local government area of the State has been a hot zone since Christmas eve’s attack on the residence of chairman Alfred Atera which left 3 policemen and 2 civilians dead and a separate attack 4 days later at the home of another politician where 3 people were reportedly killed.
