The governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress, on Friday, in Abuja, accused oil marketers of inflicting pains on Nigerians by hoarding fuel supply after President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on Monday on the discontinuance of fuel subsidy.
The governors, under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, stated this during a courtesy visit to the President at the Presidential Villa.
Addressing State House Correspondents on Friday, the Chairman of PGF and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, condemned the price increase on what he described as “old stock” and called on Nigerians to rally behind the government’s decision to discontinue the payment of petrol subsidy.
While voicing their support for the recent move, Uzodinma said the decision was approved by the Buhari administration, under the National Economic Council led by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, when they realised that it was no longer possible to fund subsidy.
Friday’s meeting is Tinubu’s first official interaction with the governors of his party since assuming office.
