Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Makinde made the announcement during a unity mega rally organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The declaration came shortly after both opposition parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening their alliance ahead of the 2027 general elections and working together to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The agreement was signed in Ibadan on Thursday, with Seyi Bamidele signing on behalf of the PDP, while Oladele Oyadeji signed for the APM.

Governor Makinde and the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantalle, also endorsed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.

The collaboration is seen as part of broader opposition efforts to build a stronger coalition ahead of the next general elections, as Makinde officially signalled his interest in joining the 2027 presidential race.
