The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has alerted members of the public to disregard a purported recruitment update currently trending on social media, describing it as fake news.
In an official alert published on its social media page, the Service declared that “the purported recruitment update currently circulating on some social media platforms is fake and did not originate from the Service.”
Urging job seekers not to fall victim to fraudsters, the agency advised members of the public to “disregard the publication and rely only on information disseminated through the official communication channels of the Nigeria Customs Service.”
To prevent citizens from being misled by fraudulent accounts, the NCS listed its verified social media platforms as Facebook (Nigeria Customs Service) as well as its official Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Threads, and TikTok handles under the username @customsng.
Reiterating the need for caution, the statement added, “Stay vigilant.
Verify information before sharing.”
Recruitment scams have remained a recurring challenge in Nigeria, with fraudsters routinely exploiting public interest in government employment by circulating fake advertisements and soliciting money from unsuspecting applicants.
