The wife of embattled Delta State content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba, has defended her husband against allegations of raping 20-year-old Favour Agbro, claiming he only had an affair with the deceased.
The woman, whose name was not stated, made the declaration in a video uploaded to the content creator’s page on Wednesday, insisting that she stands firmly behind her husband.
Ogbonna, 40, was arrested by the Delta State Police Command following allegations that he raped Favour, who subsequently died after ingesting a toxic substance.
According to the police, the suspect invited Favour to Asaba under the guise of training her on how to monetize her TikTok and Facebook pages through content creation, but allegedly took her to a hotel where he raped and physically assaulted her.
Favour reportedly returned home distressed, narrated the ordeal to her parents, recorded a video detailing the event, and later ingested a toxic substance, dying while receiving treatment.
Rejecting the allegations in the viral video, Ogbonna’s wife insisted that her husband is innocent of sexual assault and murder.
“Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. I know my husband… Odogwu Asaba did not rape Favour. Odogwu Asaba only had an affair with the girl,” she stated.
She further claimed that her husband lacks the temperament for sexual violence.
“He cannot rape, he has never. Even when he did not have fame, he did not rape anybody, is it now?” she said.
Acknowledging the tragic death of the victim, the wife explained that the loss of life prompted her to handle the situation carefully.
“Yes, someone has died and that is why we are taking it easy. But Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody,” she maintained.
She revealed that she has been married to Ogbonna for eight years with four children, adding that he would present his side of the story in due course.
Reiterating her loyalty to her spouse, she declared: “I am trying to follow the matter the right way; I have not been silent. I want to let you people know that no matter what happened, he is my husband and I stand with him 100%. I’m not going to turn my back on him.”
She also cautioned the public against conducting trial by media on social platforms.
“How I feel, what I feel, how I see it is my personal decision.
Everything is not actually the way they presented it. Before I could come out to talk, I have learnt a lot about this matter.
Social media is not a courtroom. You people should bear that in mind,” she added.
The police confirmed that Ogbonna’s arrest followed a petition submitted by the deceased’s family, noting that investigations remain ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court.
Ogbonna has not been convicted of any offense, and the case remains under active legal investigation.
