The statement revealed, “Following further investigation and a search operation, our operatives recovered four bags filled with aluminium electricity conductor cables, which had been concealed in a compound within Danbatta. The vehicle was used to convey the vandalised items by the suspect in our custody.”
The command stated that the recovered conductors were bare-stranded aluminium wires, ACSR/AAC type, commonly used for overhead 33KV, 11KV, and low-voltage electricity distribution lines.
The NSCDC described the vandalism and theft of critical national assets, particularly electricity infrastructure, as a serious threat to public safety and socio-economic development.
The Corps noted that it is currently on the trail of two other prime suspects who are presently at large, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
It added that after the conclusion of the investigation, appropriate legal action would be taken against the suspects in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mohammed Agalama, commended the operatives of the Danbatta Division for their vigilance and professionalism.
Agalama urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that would assist security agencies in preventing vandalism and protecting critical national assets.
