A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died at the age of 64.
Orbih, a former Edo State chairman of the PDP and later the party’s National Vice Chairman, South-South, reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026.
He was also known as a close political associate of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The Orbih family announced his death in a statement signed by Francis Udukhomoi Orbih, Esq., describing the loss as a painful development but expressing submission to the will of God.
The family said the late politician is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih; as well as his siblings and other members of the extended family.
It appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to remember the family in their prayers as they mourn his death.
The family said details of the funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.
Orbih was a major figure in Edo State politics and played a prominent role in the development and administration of the PDP in the state.
He served as the party’s state chairman before rising to the position of National Vice Chairman, South-South, where he remained an influential voice within the party.
His death is expected to trigger reactions across political circles in Edo State and the wider PDP, particularly among associates who worked with him during his years in active politics.
