The Governing Council of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has approved the appointment of Dr Jadesola Babatola as the seventh substantive Registrar and Secretary to the Council for a five-year term.
Until his latest appointment, Babatola served as a Deputy Registrar at the university.
Disclosing the development, the Deputy Registrar and Head of the Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs at EKSU, Mayowa Ogunlola, noted that the council gave its approval during its regular meeting held on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
In an official statement made available in Ado Ekiti on Thursday evening, Ogunlola confirmed that “the appointment takes effect from Monday, 5th October, 2026.”
Extending goodwill to the appointee, the council spokesperson stated, “We wish Dr Jadesola Babatola a remarkable and successful tenure as Registrar and Secretary to the Council of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti.”
Educational records reveal that Babatola attended Christ’s School, Ado Ekiti, before obtaining a B.A. (Hons) degree in History from Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti, which is now known as EKSU.
He proceeded to earn an M.Sc. degree in Political Science (Public Administration) from the University of Ibadan in 1997 and later bagged a PhD in History and International Studies from EKSU in 2019.
The newly appointed Registrar, who is a former Global President of the EKSU Alumni Association, previously served as a Commissioner in the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board.
His administrative trajectory includes serving as Registrar and Secretary to Council of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration, Ondo (2017–2018); Registrar and Secretary to Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Island, Bayelsa State (2018–2021); and Registrar and Secretary to Council of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo (2021–2025).
Highlighting his professional credentials, the university noted, “Dr Babatola is a member of several professional bodies including Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Management; Fellow, the Chartered Institute of Administration; Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants;
Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration; Full Member, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management; Member, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators; Member, Association of University Administrators (UK); and Associate, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators among others.”
Detailing his career background, Ogunlola added, “He carved a niche for himself as an historian, public analyst, university administrator and higher education manager. He had a brief stay in the private sector before joining the services of EKSU as an Administrative Officer One in 2001.”
