AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is currently hospitalised in France, claiming the President’s occasional public appearances were intended to conceal his health condition.
Sowore made the allegation on Monday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, while commenting on Tinubu’s prolonged absence from Nigeria after spending three weeks abroad.
According to Sowore, sources had informed him that Tinubu was receiving medical treatment in France, although he said he did not know the specific ailment involved.
“Reliable sources have said Tinubu is undergoing treatment in France. Those once-in-a-while appearances are designed to fool the public.
“They used the same language when Yar’Adua and Buhari were sick and in the hospital for a long time, saying the president can govern from anywhere.”
Sowore said he had been in the United States for two weeks and had also followed developments surrounding the United Nations General Assembly.
“I’ve been in the US for the last two weeks, and I was also monitoring what was happening at the United Nations General Assembly.
“Tinubu is hospitalised in France. I don’t know what ailment it is because we don’t have those details, and that is why they have not discharged him from the hospital,” he said.
The allegation comes amid public discussion over Tinubu’s prolonged absence from Nigeria. Sowore also drew comparisons with the administrations of former Presidents Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Muhammadu Buhari, both of whom faced public scrutiny over periods of ill health and extended absences from the country.
