Operation Delta Hawk: Delta Inaugurates State Security Outfit

One year after its conception Delta State floats security outfit code named “Operation Delta Hawks”, a new approach towards tackling the rising security challenges facing the State.

The State Governor, Senator Okowa while flagging off the new security outfit at the organizations Operational Headquarters GRA Asaba in the presence of Security Chiefs in the State call on all concerned to unite and ensure its success.

Operation Delta Hawk is made up of some selected members of the state Vigilante Services, Nigerian Army, Navy, Police and Civil Defence who have undergone special training for the onerous task of tackling insecurity of lives and property, kidnapping, banditary cultism, rape, herdsmen with questionable character among others.

Governor Okowa while inaugurating logistics for the Delta Hawk take off made up of body protective kit, armoured and other operational vehicles charged the Commissioned Officers for the Delta Hawk to reduce crime to its barest minimal and to work in concert with the Traditional Rulers, Community Leaders and Youths for Information.

The Governor lamented that despite Federal and State Government including Security Agencies efforts in reducing crime, Nigeria is still faced with lots of insecurity while the new outfit operation Delta Hawk he said is a new strategy to address the menace.

With a promise to boost the logistics of their operation by the first quarter of next year, Governor Okowa said in no distant time, the state will come up with Community Security Corps a reformed Vigilante Group whose profiling, training and screening are being done by Security Operatives.

Earlier in his speech Secretary to the State Government, Chiedu Ebie said, ‘the security outfit aimed at securing the lives and property of people was formed after Consultations with Stakeholders.’
