Afrobeats global star, David Adeleke, popular known as Davido has officially put his musical career on hold for the next two months to spearhead the re-election campaign of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke. Appearing in Ede, Osun State, the singer was unveiled as the chairman of a newly formed 43-member youth committee tasked with mobilizing massive support ahead of the August 15 governorship poll. The group, known as the Imole Youth Campaign Team, is designed to serve as a bridge between the administration and young voters across the state.
Addressing his supporters and members of the campaign team, Davido made his intentions clear regarding his professional hiatus. “I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle,” he stated, emphasizing that his decision was rooted in both family ties and a genuine belief in the Governor’s ongoing work for the state. He further urged the committee to take their message directly into the heart of various communities to engage voters one-on-one.
Governor Adeleke has since welcomed the high-profile addition to his campaign structure via a post on X. The Governor expressed his confidence in the singer’s ability to connect with the youth, noting that Davido brings the necessary influence to strengthen the campaign’s reach as the election draws closer.
