Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has finally opened up on why she ensured her ex-husband, Ademidun Ojo, played a visible and prominent role during their daughter Priscilla Ojo’s star-studded wedding ceremonies.

The actress disclosed this during a Monday appearance on The Morayo Show hosted by Morayo Afolabi-Brown, where she reflected on the decision that drew widespread public attention and sparked conversations across social media platforms.

Iyabo Ojo explained that she was determined not to allow her personal differences with her ex-husband to affect their children, noting that she was heavily guided by her deep belief in breaking unhealthy family patterns and ancestral curses.

“I don’t know, there’s something called ancestral curses. And we Africans believe in it. Christians also. I believe that if you do not want something to continue, you have to be able to break it,” the actress shared during the interview.

Reflecting on her own background and her ultimate goal for her children’s future, she stated that she wanted a complete departure from the marital struggles experienced by the previous generations.

“So I made up my mind that whatever situation had happened, because my dad and my mum were also not together, every mistake they had made that I have made, my children will not make it,” she said.

The movie star emphasized that she deliberately chose to look past her personal grievances to guarantee her daughter’s total happiness and marital fulfillment.

“So I had to put aside what I felt, my differences, and play my part. That’s why I said I have paid the price for her to succeed and for her to be happy in her marriage,” she added.

Ojo further stressed that regardless of whatever transpired in the past, her former husband remained Priscilla’s biological father and fully deserved to witness one of the biggest, most historic moments of her life.

“Her father is not dead. He’s alive. So why can’t he be there? He didn’t wrong her. Me and him fell out. It has nothing to do with her. I made the choice to marry him. So whatever is going on between me and him is between me and him. It shouldn’t extend to my children,” she asserted firmly.

The single mother of two also used the platform to dismiss the long-held public perception that she is an overly strict mother, admitting that although she was once very firm with her children, they eventually grew up to understand the core reasons behind her protective parenting style.

Iyabo Ojo married Ademidun Ojo back in 1999 at the age of 21, and the marriage produced two children Festus Oladunjoye Ojo, born on June 21, 1999, and Priscilla Ajoke Ojo, born on March 13, 2001.

The couple later divorced in 2001, shortly after the birth of their daughter, with Iyabo attributing the end of the marriage to marrying at a very young age and the intense pressures of early motherhood.

Years down the line, Priscilla Ojo married Tanzanian singer Juma Jux in a series of elaborate, high-profile wedding ceremonies held across Tanzania and Nigeria in 2025.

The celebrations attracted several top-tier celebrities and dignitaries, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings of the year.
Following the wedding, the young couple announced their pregnancy via Instagram in July 2025, confirming a baby boy during a glamorous gender reveal in Tanzania.
