The new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Segun Aina, has unveiled a five-year strategic agenda aimed at strengthening the board’s governance, expanding its digital infrastructure and improving service delivery.
Aina announced the reform plan on Monday as he officially assumed office, according to a statement issued by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
He succeeds Professor Is-haq Oloyede, who completed a decade as registrar before handing over leadership of the examination body on Friday.
Presenting his vision, Aina said the agenda is designed to consolidate the reforms introduced by his predecessor while positioning JAMB as “Africa’s most trusted, innovative and accessible assessment and admissions institution.”
He pledged to build on the board’s existing achievements by introducing innovative systems, strengthening institutional processes and enhancing the quality of services provided to candidates and stakeholders.
As part of the implementation strategy, the new registrar announced seven flagship initiatives to be executed over the next five years.
The initiatives include an independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure, the attainment of ISO 27001 Information Security Certification, the development of a unified JAMB mobile application, strategic communication and brand repositioning, the creation of a unified customer service platform, the introduction of a paperless enterprise-wide digital administration system, and improved staff welfare and capacity development.
According to Aina, the reforms are intended to make the board more efficient, digitally integrated, secure and responsive while strengthening public confidence in its operations.
He emphasised that although technology would remain central to JAMB’s transformation, the institution’s workforce and the candidates it serves would remain its greatest priority.
Aina noted that every registration reflects the aspirations of young Nigerians and the sacrifices made by their parents and guardians, assuring stakeholders that his administration would continue to simplify admission processes while upholding fairness, transparency and integrity.
He also called on members of staff to embrace innovation, professionalism and teamwork, stressing that institutions achieve lasting success when employees are united by shared values and a common purpose.
