The Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, has officially resigned his membership from the party with immediate effect.
Zaune made his decision public through a formal resignation letter dated August 5, 2026, which was addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, located within the Dukku Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, the former spokesperson expressed gratitude to the party leadership for giving him the platform to serve across multiple organizational tiers over the course of his tenure.
“I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities at the local government, state and national levels. I therefore wish the party well,” Zaune stated.
While Zaune did not explicitly name his next political destination in the letter, his departure has sparked widespread speculation that he may be preparing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This sudden exit comes barely 24 hours after the APC governorship candidate for Gombe State, Jamilu Gwamna, paid a visit to Dukku Local Government Area, Zaune’s home origin.
The strategic timing of his resignation has heightened political intrigue across the state, particularly as political parties actively ramp up mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Zaune’s departure follows a similar major shakeup within the party’s ranks, coming just weeks after the state Secretary of the ADC, Ahmed Gana, resigned from the opposition party to join the APC in support of Gwamna’s governorship ambition.
