Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City on Tuesday for a reported initial fee of £75 million ($102 million), bringing their total spending in the current transfer window past the £300 million mark.
The 22-year-old forward struggled to command a regular starting berth during his two seasons at Manchester City, where he managed just seven goals across 84 appearances as the club missed out on Premier League and Champions League titles in Pep Guardiola’s final two years at the helm.
Spurs, who narrowly avoided relegation from the top flight last season, are relying on the Brazilian to inject pace, flair, and creativity into their attacking line under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Reacting to his move, Savinho expressed delight at joining the North London side.
“It’s taken a while, but I’m very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world,” Savinho said.
He added: “As soon as I spoke to the head coach, I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi also hailed the acquisition, highlighting the qualities the Brazilian brings to his squad.
“Savio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity,” De Zerbi stated.
“We’re very pleased to have him with us, and I’m looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”
The deal could net Manchester City up to an additional £10 million in potential add-ons.
Savinho originally joined City from French side Troyes a club under the City Football Group umbrella for £26 million in 2024, after rising to prominence during a standout loan stint at Spanish side Girona.
Further business between both clubs appears likely before the transfer window closes next week, with Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush also expected to swap Manchester for North London.
Savinho’s arrival adds to Tottenham’s heavy summer investment, joining dynamic new signings Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali, and Jan Paul van Hecke, alongside free agent additions Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and Martin Dubravka.
De Zerbi, whose managerial impact late last term saved Spurs from dropping into the second tier of English football for the first time in 49 years, will be eager to integrate his new signing quickly following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brentford on the opening weekend of the season.
